The Top 10 Best-Selling Cameras of 2023

Map Camera, Japan’s largest photography retailer, has released their list for the best-selling cameras in 2023 for both new and used cameras.

The most sold brand-new camera of 2023 was the Nikon Z8, which is impressive considering it launched in May 2023, a whole 7 months after the second-place Canon EOS R6 Mark II was launched in November 2022.

As for used cameras, the Sony a7 III took the top spot, which is remarkable because it was released in April 2018. This is an indication that perhaps the new mirrorless cameras are getting too expensive, so photographers are sticking to the older models. That being said, for most uses the a7 III is still a great choice in 2024.

Notably, the only camera in the top 5 of both the brand-new and used lists is the Sony a7 IV. Check out the full lists below:
