GoPro Unveils New Subscription Tiers and Desktop App to Revolutionise Content Creation

In a strategic move to cater to both amateurs and professionals, GoPro announced yesterday the release of three new subscription tiers alongside the debut of its desktop application, Quik, for macOS users. The tech giant aims to streamline content creation processes while offering enhanced editing tools and expanded storage options.

GoPro’s latest offering includes the introduction of a new Premium+ subscription tier priced at $99.99 per year, supplementing the existing Premium tier (which has been renamed – previously known as the GoPro Subscription). The standard Premium tier is priced at $24.99 for first-time subscribers and $49.99/year upon renewal. Both tiers provide users with a myriad of benefits, including unlimited cloud storage for GoPro footage, mobile-to-desktop editing synchronisation via the Quik app, and exclusive discounts on accessories and camera replacements.

Nicholas Woodman, Founder and CEO of GoPro, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, stating, “Our new Quik desktop app syncs with our mobile app and cloud, making GoPro the ultimate content creation solution for beginners and advanced creators, alike.” Woodman emphasized the versatility of Quik’s editing tools, catering to novice users with its intuitive auto-editing features while offering advanced capabilities for seasoned professionals.

The new Quik desktop app, available at no additional charge to GoPro subscribers, seamlessly integrates with its mobile counterpart, facilitating effortless project management across devices. Users can leverage powerful editing features such as beat-sync for soundtrack alignment and auto highlight editing, ensuring a polished final product regardless of editing experience.

Key features of the Premium+ tier include the introduction of “HyperSmooth Pro” video stabilisation, designed to meet the demands of advanced users seeking optimal footage quality. Additionally, subscribers will benefit from an extra 500GB of cloud storage, accommodating footage captured with any camera.

For those seeking a premium editing experience without a GoPro subscription, a standalone Quik subscription is available at $9.99 per year. This tier grants access to a suite of mobile editing tools, including auto edits, filters, and a vast library of original music tracks.

The subscription tiers offer a range of options to suit diverse user needs, from casual content creators to professional filmmakers. With the initial release of Quik available for macOS users today and plans for a Windows version later this year, GoPro remains at the forefront of innovation in the realm of content creation tools.
